Al-Jeel Al-Jadeed Circassian Folklore Dance Troupe

Al-Jeel al-Jadeed Circassian Folklore Dance Troupe was established in 1950, as the first Jordanian-Circassian folklore troupe, and as one of the first folklore troupes in the country. For this reason, the troupe is considered the school of the Circassian folklore in Jordan, and it comes first among other Jordanian forlklore groups concerning its artistic level and ability to deal with the theater.

Currently, the troupe, which is based on voluntary work, consists of 90 young female and male dancers, and 10 others; musicians, administrative staff, and sound and lighting technicians, all inspired by the rich Circassian culture and heritage.

The troupe, despite its good relations and access to the expertise accumulated in the various folk institutions in the Circassian republics in Caucasus, has established new lines based on the local music and dances of the Circassian community in Jordan. This has given its performances a unique flavor that is being recognized around the world.

The troupe had particpated in many International festivals and presented tens of performances both inside and outside Jordan; among the major ones were its many performances at the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts. Outside Jordan, the troupe performed in many countries, including: France, Cyprus, USA, Russia, Tunisia, UAE, and Turkey.

The troupe aspires to preserve the valuable Circassian culture through a unique mixture of moves and music that reflect the traditions, social relations and spirit of the Circassian society in Jordan and around the world.
